Mauritius is situated close to the Tropic of Capricorn, which means that the sun is hotter for longer at the highest point in the sky, than anywhere else. Being a tropical island, it is always lush and green, with a regular rainfall to keep it that way.
Between May and October, regarded as winter, the daytime temperatures can be between 21°C and 27°C especially along the coastal resort areas. In the summer, from November to April, the temperatures are slightly higher, from about 25°C up to 33°C .
The Indian Ocean is normally warm, but can get up to 28°C, although there is often a steady breeze blowing in from the east.
