Travel Guide: Austria

Welcome to Austria, considered to be the most beautiful country in Europe. There are several regions in Austria that attract year round holidaymakers, including: Carinthia, the Tyrol, Salzkammergut, Southern Austria and Vorarlberg. Many of these areas consist of spectacular mountain scenery, are fairly close to Innsbruk or Salzburg, and provide a wealth of outdoor activities all year round. You’ll find numerous holiday apartments in Austria to rent, including ski chalets and B & B accommodation which is available for self catering holidays. Some regions publishing their own tourist information guides for visitors.

In summer, Austria offers a wealth of activities, like Ballooning, Fishing, Golf, Hang Gliding, Horse Riding, Scuba Diving, Tennis, and Walking. These activities can be enjoyed amongst some of the most pretty and idyllic countryside surroundings. It’s where many holiday apartments and Austrian pine-log ski-chalets are built. Many are surrounded by breathtaking lakes, fast clean rivers and glorious waterfalls, or set amid mountain scenery with beautiful pine-tree forests.

Austria in winter is like a snow covered wonderland, with Cross-country walking, hiking, indoor tennis, skiing and snowboarding. Couples, families and groups of all sizes love renting Austria holiday apartments or ski chalets. Austria hotels and bed & breakfast accommodation are situated in fantastic locations, ideal for skiing.

Alpine ski-lift stations are usually well situated in the centre of resort towns or villages and are easily accessible for experienced skiers and beginners alike. Non-skiers can also enjoy the high mountains via the Cable car and chair-lift network. These will take visitors up to beautiful mountain peaks at amazing heights, often surrounded by spectacular snow-covered scenery.

The driving in Austria is easy as the roads are usually quiet even when it’s busy! Mozart’s city of Salzburg and the surrounding lakeside towns are all well worth visiting, try Zell-am-See, Kitzbuhel, or visit the Golden Roof at Innsbruk. The Austrian Tyrol is by far the prettiest region. With its special magnetic appearance, so quiet and beautiful in sunshine or rain, it’s glistening meadows and the tinkling of cow-bells will linger in your memories forever. Take a drive westwards to St Anton or Lech, just two of the prettiest and most delightful mountain villages in the Voralberg region.

Beautiful Lech is not only an exclusive playground for the rich and famous, it’s an exciting holiday resort that’s extremely popular with returning summer visitors and winter skiers.
