There are many interesting places for tourists in Italy, none more so than the mountainous region of Abruzzo. The capital of Abruzzo is L’Aquila, which is a beautiful city - situated in a picturesque mountain setting. It’s an ideal location to use as a base to explore the hill towns, river valleys and high-mountains of the region. Abruzzo holiday accommodation is mainly self catering, which offers holidaymakers the flexibility they need!
From your Abruzzo holiday rental property, you will find that driving is quite easy. Whether you visit the Convents or Monasteries in the towns of Teramo, Chieti and Fossa or the attractive sandy beaches of the Eastern coastline you’re sure to enoy. Alternatively, to experience a panoramic view of Abruzzo, you could take a ride on the ‘Treno della Valle’, a train that operates both ways from Ascoli Piceno to L‘Aquila.
Generally, the Chieti region has a thriving agricultural community with main crops of Olives and Wine but also an amazing range of crops are grown here - including figs, tobacco, melons, tomatoes, herbs, potatoes, onions, nuts and so on. If it’s self catering villas in Abruzzo that you’re seeking, then the area is blessed with good restaurants serving selections of fresh fish and meat.
Also well worth a visit, is the splendid Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo at Pescasseroli - located in a wonderful setting with wild animals, trees and flowers.
