Description of Holiday Apartment
A luxurious & spacious 273.6 square meter private apartment, on the sunny, dry southern coast of Madeira, in the fashionable district of Garajau. Spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from the 30ft x 40 ft (175.7sq.m.) south facing private terrace, perfect for a lazy day spent sunbathing and relaxing. An ideal setting for al fresco dining. There is a further west facing balcony off the double bedroom and lounge. The accommodation is open plan. The lounge, dining area and kitchen to the south, the bedrooms and bathrooms to the north. In Garajau, there are several restaurants, bars, bakery & coffee shops, ice cream parlours and a few patisseries, 2 hypermarkets and a medium sized well stocked supermarket with ATM outside.
Golf Facilities
Golfers will be pleased to know that the new 18-hole Palheiro golf course with stunning views is no more than a 20 minute drive. The spectacular 27-hole Santo da Serra golf course home to the Madeira Island Open is also within easy reach.
Beaches / Coast
Beaches are not a feature of Madeira, but there is a Lido within easy reach of the apartment at the Galo Mar Complex in Canico de Baixo. A similar complex is being installed at Garajau.
One of the water features at Canico de Baixo is the diving club MANTA RAY on the seafront, with two big reefs and a cave for experienced divers directly in front of the diving club. The diving depths vary from 6m & a max. 28m. Escorted dives twice a day at 10.30 and 14.30. Manta Ray also provides access to other interesting dive sites. The underwater fauna is impacted positivley by the gulf stream. Barracudas, Groupers, Moray Eels, Parrotfish, and Trompetfishes are found in abundance.
Just below Garajau is a 200m high headland - Ponta do Garajau with a fine miradouro - a statue of Christ with outstretched arms erected in 1927. The coastline here at Garajau is also a conservation area and was one of Europe's first underwater nature reserves, providing sanctuary for whales, dolphins and seals.

Further Details
Garajau is a good location from where to hike & walk the islands amazing levada irrigation system. The apartment is on the 6th floor and it is not easy to supervise children, so we prefer not to accommodate young children needing constant supervision. The terrace is totally private, so sun loungers can be used all day. Some of the large terrace is also under cover, so even in inclement weather it can be used. The apartment is on one level and is serviced by two lifts. The kitchen has everything one should need, towels, bed linen and hair dryer also provided. The apartment is in a small development of 32, mainly residential, apartments. Taxis and Buses are available within walking distance - bus stop outside apartment, taxi rank in next street.

The apartment is on the top of a small apartment complex which is located at the edge of Garajau going towards Canico.

Garajau is about 20 minutes from the airport.
