Description of Holiday Cottage
Cortijo la Mata is a traditional whitewashed Andalusian farmhouse, built in 1911 and later converted into two completely separate holiday cottages. Situated in the Sierra Nevada mountain range and just ten minutes by car from the Alhambra Palace and the city of Granada the house is located just outside the old moorish village of Monachil in an area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by olive, almond and cherry trees.
For those who are looking for a complete escape to the Andalusian countryside yet want to take advantage of all that the city of Granada has to offer plus take in the ski slopes of Spain's highest mountain range the location is ideal.
Both properties include bedlinen, duvets, towels, colour TV, DVD, CD, selection of books in English and Spanish, crockery, tableware, cutlery, fridge/freezer, electric or gas cooker, washing machine, dishwasher (cottage II only), drying/ironing facilities, full central heating plus large fireplace.
Outside facilities include well maintained swimming pool, barbecue, fully furnished patios and roof sun terrace with spectacular views across the Monachil valley, gardens and private "mountain" belonging to the property which kids will love. Private parking all set within an enclosed plot of aproximately 1,500 square metres.

Golf Facilities
Apart from the wealth of gold courses found in the Costa del Sol area the city of Granada also has it's own golf course.
Skiing Facilities
Sierra Nevada ski station is only 25 minutes from the house. Monachil has the added advantage that it has separate road going to the resort hence avoiding much of the Granada city traffic.
Beaches / Coast
Granada does have several beaches - For that reason the city is well know in Spain for the possibility of skiing in the morning and lying on the beach in the afternoon. Beach resorts such as Salobreña and Almuñecar can be reached in 45 minutes by car from Monachil.

The village is also a joy - with several very nice restaurants, bars and its very own morrocan tea shop.
