Description of Holiday Apartment
Beautiful views of the Cantabrian valley and surrounding mountains.The apartment is fully equipped and also has central heating. It has a fully equipped kitchen and 2 w.c's and a bath/shower. The apartment can sleep 8 as there is a sofa bed in the largest bedroom. Ampuero village is a 5 minute walk away with shops, banks, restaurants and bars. There is a local market on Saturday for local produce and clothes. The River Ason runs alongside the apartment and is great for canoeing, fishing and walking. CanoeAson are opposite the apartment and run fully guided canoeing trips all year. The municipal swimming pool behind the apartment is open from June to August it has two pools and a lifeguard. There is a cafe next to it. There are local buses and trains into Santander, Laredo and Bilbao.
Skiing Facilities
Alto Campoo is the nearest ski resort it is an hour and a half drive up through Santander and Reinossa.
Beaches / Coast
Laredo and Santona beaches are a 15 minute drive away. Laredo is in a bay with 8 klm of sand excellent area for wind/kitesurfing. Santona and Noja are popular with body boarders and surfers. The beaches along this area of the Cantabrian coast are all sandy and excellent days out for both the young and old.
Special Interest
Outdoor activities are popular in this area of Spain. Walkers and cyclists love the mountainous scenery. The Picos de Europas mountain range is an hour and a half drive away. Santona is popular with the birding community as the wetlands provide excellent areas for the birds before they migrate south.
Further Details
Bilbao the cosmopolitan city is a 40 minutes drive away. The Guggenheim museum provides excellent cultural events. Can be reached by car, bus or train from Ampuero. Santander, the ferry ports and the airport are reached within 30 minutes driving. The Safari park of Carbacenon is 25 minutes drive. The old town in Laredo is excellent for a night out, sampling Cantabrian cuisine.

Ampuero is close to Santander towards Bilbao. It can be reached easily from Santander airport and ferry port, or Bilbao airport and ferry port by car, bus or train.
